The visit to the shop on the town's Wyle Cop on Saturday marked his work on 100 consecutive editions of zombie comic The Walking Dead.

He has been involved with the comic book series, which has now been turned into a hugely successful television show starring Andrew Lincoln, since its seventh issue and created a special front cover to mark his involvement with the most recent 106th issue.

Paul Martin, co-owner of Infinity and Beyond, said Mr Adlard's appearance had been a huge hit and he had done signings and drawn sketches for his fans.

Mr Martin added that the special front cover featuring the shop was created to reference the first-ever issue of the comic.

"On issue one, it was the main character Rick outside a shop with a shotgun and a smashed window, with zombies approaching," he said.
