Posties in Telford are first class

Posties in the Telford area were the best in the UK for ensuring first-class post was delivered the next day, new figures have revealed.

Royal Mail said 95.6 per cent of first class items posted in the TF postcode area reached their destination the following day – above the national target set by bosses of 93 per cent.

People with an SY postcode in Shrewsbury and the surrounding area were just under the national target with 92 per cent of mail being delivered the next day.

Those with a Wolverhampton WV postcode – which includes Bridgnorth and Shifnal – just met the target with 93.1 per cent, the report said.

Nationally, Royal Mail narrowly missed the target it set itself to deliver more than nine out of 10 first class letters the day after they were posted.

They said 92.3 per cent of first class mail arrived on time in the final three months of the year, 0.7 per cent below the target.

However, in Mid Wales 88.9 per cent of post in the Llandrindod Wells (LD) postcode area was delivered the following day.
