Three people from Shrewsbury have been arrested over an attack on former Emmerdale star Roxanne Pallett during a train journey through the county.

She claimed she was verbally abused and threatened by a gang with a dog.

Two men, aged 19 and 21, and an 18-year-old woman were arrested by British Transport Police officials yesterday, on suspicion of public order offences.

Police launched an investigation after the actress claimed she was verbally abused and threatened on a train journey from Carmarthen to Manchester Piccadilly on January 9.

Officers said it was believed the trio boarded the train at Craven Arms in south Shropshire, before fleeing the scene at Shrewsbury railway station.

The 29-year-old actress, who played Jo Sugden in the ITV soap until 2008, was travelling home to Manchester after filming an episode of BBC1's Casualty.

She said had 'never been so frightened' as she was during the ordeal.

Today a British Transport Police spokesman confirmed two men and a woman from the Shrewsbury area had been arrested. He said all three were interviewed and released on police bail, pending further inquiries, until February 16 and 17.
