A speed camera will be sited on the main road through Gobowen after a survey found nearly half of drivers ignored the 30mph limit.

The move has been welcomed by councillors who have been fighting for years to get speeders tackled on St Martins Road.

The move follows a similar scheme which started in Wem this week after a survey there found motorists were flouting the 30mph limit along Whitchurch Road.

The mobile camera will operate from a van in St Martins Road from Monday and will be operational for at least six months.
