Residents on the Lake Vyrnwy Estate have drawn up a wish list for the new owners of the site to protect the area.

Suggestions include a play park, new jobs, support for farmers, good car parking facilities for visitors and a new use for the local school, such as offices and workshops.

Residents have also called for the area to be a priority for economic development.

The 23,000-acre site's 125-year lease has been put up for sale with a price tag of £11 million. A number of interested parties have put in bids.

It is not known who will be given the lease as water company Severn Trent is currently going through the selection process.

Since the announcement of the sale, local people and council officials have met seven times at Llanwddyn community centre to discuss the area's future.

Residents have vowed to continue holding regular public meetings so the community can work with the new owners "to get the best results for Llanwddyn".

Another suggestion highlighted in the wish list was to create an annual Gwyl Llanwddyn Festival to celebrate Welsh culture.

It is hoped a festival could be held every July, starting next year.
