RAIDERS HAVE ransacked the home of a Shropshire coma victim, stealing wedding rings and treasured unseen footage of her son's nativity play.
Burglars struck at the home of Emma Ray in Wrockwardine Wood, Telford, on Boxing Day.
The 36-year-old is registered disabled and still has memory and physical problems after falling into a deep coma for 12 days after suffering a heart attack in 2006.
Today her husband Andrew Ray, 39, spoke of his shock after the raid on the home he shares with Emma and their two young children, Ella, six and Alexander, four.
It happened while the family was out visiting relatives.
He said: "The thing I find really upsetting is they have taken all Emma's jewellery, including the wedding rings.
"They also took the camera and video camera which I had used to video Alexander's first nativity just before Christmas.
"Emma was having therapy at the Brain Rehabilitation Trust in Birmingham. She never got a chance to watch it.
"They probably watched us leave. They would have known we had children. And they would have seen there was somebody there with a physical disability.
"At the moment I am in shock that someone would do something to people who have been through so much.
"Emma has survived something really horrendous and had to put up with a difficult life.
"To go in and take what little things she had to remember her life before the brain injury is more cruel than I can imagine."
The burglars smashed French doors, leaving glass strewn on the floor before stealing items and opening Christmas cards.
A Sony micro camera and a black Panasonic TZ10 camera containing the nativity footage were taken.
Laptops, flat screen televisions, a satnav and 400 Euros were also stolen.
Mr Ray said he had put away their platinum wedding rings, one of which had diamonds in it, with Boodles stamped inside, to keep them safe but they were also taken.
Telford police are investigating the break-in and any witnesses or anyone with information should contact them on 0300 333 3000.
