A national inspector of railways has said there is no reason why Oswestry's heritage railway can't cross trunk roads near the town.

The Cambrian Heritage Railways wants trains to cross the A483 south of Oswestry and the A5/A483 to the north.

Those behind the plans recently met David Keay, HM Principal Inspector of Railways.

He said statutory powers for the line between Gobowen and Llanyblodwel remained, which would allow its use by either a heritage railway or for freight.
