Full entry for Loton Park Speed Hill Climb
Event organisers Hagley Car Club have reported a full entry for both days of this weekend's speed hill climb meetings at Loton park, near Shrewsbury.
A wide variety of sports, classic and racing cars will tackle the challenging tight and twisty uphill tarmac course through the stately home's deer park.
Ladies outright hill record holder Sue Young, of Hereford, who set a time of 48.59 seconds in 2014, makes a return to the sport for the first time this weekend in her 4-litre Gould GR51 racing car. Worcester driver Tina Hawkes came very close to taking the record earlier this year and will be in attendance with her Force PC racing car to ensure close competition.
A special class for historic rally cars will see a battle between several Austin Minis, a Lotus Elan and a Ford Corina GT, which always provides great spectator interest, while there are 40 entries each day for competitors in the Loton Park club members Allswage Championship,
Other invited classes are for the TVR Car Club and the Revington TR Register, together with a range of cars competing in the Classic Marques Speed Championship which visits the very best motorsport venues throughout the country.
Local entrants include Mark Laws of Much Wenlock in a Mini Cooper Works, Brian Marshall of Shrewsbury in a Porsche 944 Turbo, Richard Thorne of Ludlow in a Jamun M90, Tony Adams of Bridgnorth in a Lotus Elise, Lindsay Summers of Tenbury Wells in a DJ Firehawk, Sean Toms of Shrewsbury in a Subaru Impreza, Tim Higgins of Oswestry in a Westfield, Andrew Collins of Dorrington in a Rover Metro and Trevor Lacey of Shifnal in a Renault Clio.
The action starts at 9am on Saturday and at 8.30am on Sunday with two practice and qualifying runs each morning, followed by two timed competition runs each afternoon.
