Theatre Severn was filled with people young and old as local theatre group Get Your Wigle On added a dash of glitz and glamour to the venue's main auditorium as they staged the first of six performances of the traditional family favourite, which runs until Sunday.

The impressive scenery and costumes added kudos to a musical which entertained the crowds all night long and even included a live orchestra.

And visitors were also treated to a performance from Telford terrier Danny, who has now starred in the musical more than 1,400 times.

The 12-year-old is a theatre veteran in the true sense of the word and will be featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for appearing in more performances than any other dog before.

With songs such as Tomorrow, Maybe, Easy Street and Hard Knock Life it could end up being the theatre group's biggest show to date, following on from last year's productions of The Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast.

Co-director James Broxton said they had already received rave reviews from the audience and were looking forward to the next five shows.

The next show is tonight at 6.30pm. Tickets, priced from £10 to £15, are available from the Theatre Severn box office or by calling (01743) 281281.
