Club Inferno, a fire and ice themed venue, will take over the currently empty unit in Raven Meadows, which was most recently The Aviary.

The venue has a long history of being a nightclub having recently been home to Liquid and Diva and Onyx & Blu.

Club bosses hope to open on November 26 and have submitted a premises licence to Shropshire Council.

Yucel Ozturk, director of Selay Limited which is launching the club, said he was excited about the venture.

Mr Ozturk, who also owns the town's Flaming Great takeaway, said: "I've decided to take this particular club on as I know that many people in Shropshire have many happy memories there and I would really like to see it thriving again.

"It's always been a dream of mine to open a nightclub. I am used to the nightlife in the town from running successful takeaways for many years.

"I believe our new concept for the club will be a success as we are introducing many new elements and an idea that hasn't been done before, it will look totally different to how it has in the past and we are working with other local businesses to ensure the success.

"The club will have something for all ages, and we would really love to see people from different generations there to enjoy it.

"Although I personally have never run a nightclub before I have been on the scene for many years due to the takeaway business and I have management in place that have many years experience and I have been overwhelmed by the support of people over the past few months to get the club open.

"I am very excited for the opening weekend, and would love to see as many people there as possible.

"It will be fantastic for Shrewsbury to have another nightclub for people to come and enjoy."

Mr Ozturk said one room of the club will have a fire theme and the other an ice theme.

If the premises licence is granted, the club will be able to sell alcohol between 10pm and 2.30am on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 10pm to 3.30am Wednesday to Saturday and 10pm to 12.30am on Sundays.

It would be open from 10pm to 3am on Mondays and Tuesdays, until 4am on Wednesdays to Saturdays, and until 1am on Sundays.

The club's Twitter account describes it as Shrewsbury's newest nightclub with a twist. It promises "lots of surprises" and a range of music and drinks offers.

About 15 jobs will have been created when the club opens.
