Future unclear for Welshpool Music Festival

A music festival which attracts hundreds of people could be in danger of being cancelled.

The Welshpool Music Festival sees dozens of bands performing multiple sets at various pubs and venues across the town each May.

But organiser Kuldip Caberwal said it has grown so much over the past two years that he does not have the resources to manage it properly this year.

He said he is urging people to come forward to offer help and support if they want it to continue.

It comes just days after it was announced that Osfest will not be held in Oswestry this year.

Mr Caberwal said: "We all know that each year this festival grows bigger and bigger. Last year was the best to date, but we want to make it better still. Nothing would give us greater pleasure than to grow with it and provide an excellent day out for you all to enjoy.

"The reality of the situation is, however, unless we get more people to come and help out, this event is in real danger of fizzling out in its prime, and that would be such a shame. Please can we appeal to you to spread this message or get in touch if you can help in any way or know someone who would like to."

Organisers of Osfest said the festival will not go ahead this summer and future events may also be in doubt.

A statement from the organisers said: "Osfest would like to thank everybody that has come and supported the event over the last five years."

The Welshpool Music Festival event takes place on the second May Bank Holiday Sunday. For information, or to offer support, visit the Facebook page
