Sam Callahan has the X Factor at Shrewsbury Buttermarket

He may have been booted off X Factor, but finalist Sam Callahan brought scenes of hysteria to his gig in Shropshire.

Excited crowds screamed and chanted as 19-year-old X Factor finalist walked on stage at The Buttermarket in Shrewsbury on Saturday night.

Martin Monahan, owner of venue, said: "Sam certainly knows how to wow his fans. It really was quite astonishing the amazing welcome he received.

"The audience was predominantly made up of teenagers, not just from different parts of Shropshire, but also from Birmingham, Manchester, and even Scotland."

Sam was supported by a host of acts including former X Factor contestants Giles Potter and Tom Mann, together with pop duo GTF, and new girl group Goodbye Charlie.

'Lil Chris also made a surprise guest appearance.

Sam Callahan took to Twitter after his show tweeting "Had a great time tonight!" to his 230,000 followers.

This coming Saturday will see Hannah Barrett perform live at the Shrewsbury venue following her recent departure from the ITV show.

She will be supported by singer/songwriter Tich who has played support to JLS, Olly Murs and The Wanted. Also performing will be boyband Recall, consisting of five former X Factor contestants from this year's show.
