TV presenter and spice expert Emma Grazette will be the guest of honour at the festival which is taking place on Sunday at the Dorothy Clive Garden, in Willoughbridge, near Market Drayton.

Ms Grazette, who is a chef, is well known for presenting Channel 4 show Spice Trip and will be giving two chilli related talks which include demonstrations.

Visitors will be able to get involved in a chilli eating contest with all the chillies grown in the garden's grounds.

They include Rocoto Rojo, Chocolate Bhut Jolokia, Satan's Kiss, Crystal Aji and the world's hottest chilli – the Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Red.

There will also be a competition to find the best chilli sauce with 18 amateur or professional cooks taking part.

Ms Grazette will judge the contest which has a first prize of a seven-night bed and breakfast stay for two in the True Blue Bay Hotel on the Caribbean island of Grenada.

Other attractions include a fire breathing display, live music, salsa dancing, yoga, henna body decoration, and spice inspired activities for children.

Event organiser Julia Roberts said: "We are delighted that Emma Grazette will be attending our chilli festival.

"Emma has such a passion for spices and chillies and she is looking forward to imparting her knowledge with the visitors who come along.

"Emma is championing a new approach to food through spices, where spices can be tied into all aspects of life and health, culture, history, travel and society."

The festival will run from 11am until 5pm.

Admission to the chilli festival is £3.50 for adults, £2 for children over four and free for children four and under.

Members of the Dorothy Clive Garden are admitted for free. For more information visit www.dorothyclivegarden.co.uk.
