Teenagers from across the borough have been working to organise their own event in memory of the Telford teenager and to raise money for the Georgia Williams Trust.

They have organised the event in Bowring Park, Wellington, for tomorrow, with live music, food stalls and activities.

The youngsters been taking part in the Engage 4 Life programme, a Government-funded scheme giving young people the opportunity to work for the better of their community. Since her death, the Georgia Williams Trust has been set up to raise money in her memory.

Many of this year's participants knew Georgia personally and felt that hosting their own event would be a positive way to raise some funds.

One of the organisers, Katie Ellis, said: "We contacted the trustees and they were fully supportive and wanted to work with us to put on the tremendous event that will give back to all the local people for all the support they have provided.

"The young people have been working hard over the last month to arrange this event and confirm local bands, so much work has been put in working with the local authorities and council to ensure this event is a positive tribute to Georgia."

Zara Bannu, a 16-year-old student at New College and a former pupil at Georgia's old school Ercall Wood, said: "We had the idea of running a festival, but one of Georgia's friends decided to do it for her.

"It's been really good, there has been a bit of a struggle, but local people and local businesses have been really supportive."

The event will run from 3pm till 9pm and is strictly a non-alcohol event. There will be food stalls, sports clubs and activities throughout the day, as well as the music.

Bands performing on the day will be Loose Lips, Arcade Parade, Blue Tuesday, Daniel Greenwood and Georgia's close friend Daniel Crossely who has written several songs in her memory.

Georgia Williams was 17 when she died at an address in Wellington in May and Jamie Reynolds, 22, of Avondale Road, Wellington, has been remanded in custody, charged with her murder. More information can be found on the Georgia Williams Trust Facebook page or by contacting Katie on 07870 501388.
