Wrekin Rotary’s Big Breakfast proves a sizzling success

Wrekin Rotary Club’s annual “Big Breakfast” at Wombridge Parish Centre in early March was a great success – even the rain had stopped so that hungry breakfasters on their way into the hall stayed dry!

Big Breakfast is Wrekin’s major fundraiser and this year raised £615 to fund community activities like the Club’s twice-monthly Memory Café and local heats of national Youth Competitions, as well as donations to local and international good causes.

Rotarian cooks and waiters served over 70 cooked breakfasts, with most of the food being donated to keep costs to a minimum.  Home-made cakes are always an extra attraction and sold out quickly, although disappointed guests were able to order cakes to be made just for them.

Wrekin Rotary’s next Memory Café will be open from 10am to 12 noon on Thursday, April 23 at Parkwood in Woodside and people with memory problems with or without their carers from anywhere in Telford and beyond are always welcome.
