The group will present Journey, a musical theatre concert at the Maidment Building at Shrewsbury School on Saturday, October 24, in aid of the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal.

The event will bring together performers from across Shropshire for an evening of musical theatre favourites, harmonies and live piano accompaniment.

Phoenix Productions has received messages of support from local businesses, visitor attractions and Shrewsbury Town FC, as well as Ellis, known for her West End roles.

Among those backing the concert are Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre, Sytner MINI, Salop Leisure, Love Plants, Hatfields Land Rover, Hencote, Tanners Wines and Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery.

Shrewsbury Prison has sent its message from inside the cells, while Fleur the barn owl from Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre has also joined the well-wishers.

Scott Sutherland, company director at Phoenix Productions, said: “The support for Journey has been incredible. From Shrewsbury's local businesses to Shrewsbury Town FC, and a shout-out from West End star Kerry Ellis, we feel so lucky. It means the world to our cast and everyone at Phoenix.”

The Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal aims to raise £5 million towards a new cancer centre at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. The development is intended to double chemotherapy capacity across the region, helping more patients receive treatment closer to home.

Lingen Davies Cancer Support works with people affected by cancer across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales, funding equipment, facilities and services to improve local cancer care.

Phoenix Productions will make a donation to the appeal, with a charity raffle also planned for the concert.

Journey begins at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 24. A limited number of tickets are available through the Stage Stubs website.
