Shrewsbury MP says more than 21,000 residents helped since election
The MP says she wants to offer constituents a range of ways to raise concerns
More than 21,000 people have been helped directly by Shrewsbury MP Julia Buckley since her election in 2024, she has said.

The Labour MP made the claim as she announced further dates for advice surgeries, question-and-answer coffee mornings and roundtable discussions for constituents.
Her latest advice surgery was held at Shrewsbury Library last week, where residents raised concerns including planning issues, medical support, child maintenance, benefits and mental health support.
Mrs Buckley said she wanted to offer constituents a range of ways to raise concerns, alongside the casework handled by her office.
She said: “My most recent advice surgery was held last week at Shrewsbury Library and was another great opportunity to listen to residents and support them with a whole range of concerns including planning issues, medical support, child maintenance, benefits and mental health support.
“I like to reach out to my constituents in a variety of ways including surgeries, coffee mornings and roundtable-style discussions, as well of course as by responding with care and understanding to the huge amount of casework that arrives for me and my hard-working team via email and post.
“Since my election in 2024, I’m delighted to be able to say we’ve now been able to help well over 21,000 local people with matters of specific concern to them.”
Members of Mrs Buckley's team have also attended learning sessions at Shrewsbury JobCentre Plus to improve their knowledge of support available to residents, including access to work opportunities, housing, starting a new business and other matters.
Upcoming advice sessions include an in-person surgery on Saturday, September 5, from 10am to 1pm; an online surgery on Saturday, September 19, from 10am to 1pm; and another in-person surgery on Saturday, October 3, from 10am to 1pm.
Constituents can book a place by emailing [email protected] or calling 01743 650434.
