The Posh Frocks Charity Dinner will take place on Friday, October 16, bringing together around 100 guests for an evening of entertainment, fundraising and celebration.

Organised by Shropshire businesswoman Kim Gilmour of Connect Marketing, the event’s Grand Hamper Prize Draw will raise money for Lingen Davies Cancer Support’s Sunflower Appeal, which aims to raise £5 million towards the development of the new Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

The planned centre, due to open by 2029, will increase chemotherapy capacity in the region and provide dedicated urology, lung and outpatient clinics.

Guests at this year’s dinner will also enjoy a special Tai Chi demonstration from British, European and World Champion instructor Nicola Day, who will showcase a range of open-hand and weapon forms, including fan and sword techniques.

Kim said: “We are delighted that this year’s Posh Frocks Dinner is supporting Lingen Davies Cancer Support and its Sunflower Appeal. It’s a cause that touches so many families across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, and Mid Wales, and we know our guests will get behind it as generously as always.”

The event has been running for more than 25 years and has raised more than £42,000 for local and national charities. Kim’s fundraising efforts were recognised earlier this year with a High Sheriff’s Award for her contribution to the local community.

Andy Mackay, Community Fundraiser for Telford at Lingen Davies Cancer Support, said fundraisers such as the Posh Frocks Charity Dinner were vital in helping the charity support local people affected by cancer.

Tickets and sponsorship opportunities will be released soon. Local businesses interested in donating raffle prizes or supporting the event are encouraged to get in touch with the organisers via the Posh Frocks Facebook group.
