Patients and experts gather in Shrewsbury for diabetes education day
Celebrating community, innovation and diabetes pump care.
Organised by the SaTH Pump Team, The Severn Pumpers Meeting, held on Friday, May 15 at Shrewsbury Town Football Ground, was a fantastic success, bringing together around 250 patients, healthcare professionals and technology representatives for an informative and engaging day.

Guests were welcomed to an excellent programme of speakers and discussions, including Professor Parth Narendran, who delivered a fascinating presentation on the benefits of early detection of T1D. He also highlighted how activity may help delay the onset of T1D in children by a number of years, alongside discussing the risks of developing T1D within family members and the ELSA study. His talk sparked a great deal of interest and conversation amongst attendees.

Throughout the day, representatives from leading diabetes technology companies were on hand to demonstrate and discuss their latest and upcoming products. Patients had the opportunity to interact directly with the technology, ask questions and take part in valuable one-to-one discussions with company representatives from the morning right through until the close of the meeting.
Dr Moulik shared key updates from the SaTH pump service and later hosted an engaging Q&A session alongside patient speakers, giving attendees the chance to hear real-life experiences and ask questions in an open and supportive environment.

We were also incredibly proud to display our 2025 Public Recognition Award for attendees to see during the event. Lunch and refreshments were provided with our compliments and were very well received, with a wide variety of options available to cater for all dietary requirements.
Overall, the day was a wonderful opportunity for learning, support and community connection, and we would like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the event such a memorable success.
