Oswestry Morris dancing group makes public debut
Oswestry Dark Morris performed its first public dances just 10 weeks after the group was formed
A new Morris dancing group in Oswestry has made its public debut at an apple pressing event.

Oswestry Dark Morris performed at the Berlian Deg Farm Apple Pressing after just 10 weeks of forming the group, attracting members and learning four dances.
The dancers also made their own traditional “tatter jackets” for the performance.
Founder Mike Lade said Morris dancing helped preserve English folk history, community identity and traditional music.
He said: “We are in the raw, energetic, stick-clashing style of Border Morris that exists notably on the Welsh and English border, so it is fitting for Oswestry.
“We are a mixed-gender group and it brings people together as a social bond. It’s good for keeping fit and improves coordination. Great for mental wellbeing and it’s just plain fun with lots of laughter.”
The group welcomes men and women aged 16 and over who would like to take part as dancers. No previous experience is needed.
Anyone interested can contact Mike on 07803 038858, through the Oswestry Dark Morris Facebook page or by emailing [email protected].
