Wheatlands Care Home has launched the café following the refurbishment of its Memory Lane community, with residents and members of the local community invited to attend.

The new café will meet on the third Thursday of every month from 11am, offering a relaxed space where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea, homemade cakes and the chance to chat with others in similar situations.

To celebrate the launch, staff and residents are hosting a traditional coffee morning with freshly baked cakes. As part of the event, postcards of British seaside towns will be used to encourage conversations and memories of holidays from years gone by.

Paula Wiggan, general manager at Wheatlands Care Home, said: "The new Dementia Café looks brew-tea-ful!

"Dedicated to members of our local community who are carers for loved ones who are living with dementia, we'll be hosting our residents and the community in our newly launched dementia café every third Thursday of each month starting at 11am.

"If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake, our doors are always open, and we're happy to answer any questions you may have."

The home hopes the café will become a regular source of support for local families affected by dementia while strengthening links with the wider Much Wenlock community.

Wheatlands Care Home provides residential and dementia care for up to 46 residents, offering both respite and long-term care.
