New Montgomery event aims to give original performers a stage
Free event will celebrate original music, poetry and performance
A new live performance event celebrating original music, storytelling and creativity is set to launch in Montgomery this autumn.

Montage will make its debut at Montgomery Institute on Friday, October 23, at 7.30pm, offering local audiences an evening of live entertainment from musicians and performers showcasing their own work.
Created to provide a platform for original artists, the event aims to support musicians, poets and performers at a time when opportunities to present new material can be difficult to find. Organisers say the emphasis will be on creativity rather than commerciality.
The inaugural event is being organised and hosted by Sylvan Spirit, a musical duo bringing together guitar and keyboards in a varied programme of original music.

Joining them will be singer-songwriter Sonya Smith, who is well known for performing at festivals and events across the region. She will support Sylvan Spirit and perform a selection of her own songs.
The evening will also feature author and speaker Alison Coleman, who will explore the intriguing story behind the invention of the Theremin – the world's first electronic musical instrument – and its unexpected links to espionage. Audience members will also have the chance to try the unusual instrument for themselves.
Admission is free, although donations towards room hire and running costs will be welcomed. Organisers have confirmed there will be no bar and the event will be alcohol-free.
They hope Montage will become a regular fixture in Montgomery and are inviting musicians, performers and artists interested in appearing at future events to get in touch.
