The festival takes place from Friday, November 27, to Sunday, November 29, with events at venues including Ludlow Castle, Events Square, St Laurence’s Church and Ludlow Brewery.

This year’s theme, Where Winter Nights Meet Countryside Lights, celebrates the connection between Ludlow and its surrounding rural communities, including farmers and local food producers.

Among the highlights is the return of the Orleton Young Farmers’ Club Tractor Run, which will bring a procession of illuminated tractors into the town on Friday evening.

The opening day will also feature late-night shopping at independent retailers, music and refreshments at St Laurence’s Church, and the Rotary Club’s Tree of Light ceremony in Castle Gardens, led by the Mayor of Ludlow.

Ludlow Brewery will host an ABBA tribute night, featuring Waterloo, as part of the evening’s entertainment.

Saturday, November 28, will see the introduction of the Slow Food Christmas Fiesta at Ludlow Castle.

The free event will run from 10am to 6pm, showcasing artisan producers, seasonal food, talks and demonstrations. Special guests will include Kate Humble and Clare Thomson.

Other Saturday attractions include a Christmas fayre at Ludlow Methodist Church and a winter craft fair at St Laurence’s Church.

Christmas on the Square, outside Ludlow College, will begin at midday, with performances from Ludlow Concert Band, Mimi Heart, Stephen Russell and Kurt Bray, alongside appearances by the town’s pantomime cast and Insteps Dance.

Children will be able to visit Father Christmas at a grotto at Ludlow College between 2pm and 4pm, with free presents available. The town’s Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm, in an event hosted by Sunshine Radio and featuring a special guest.

Sunday’s programme will include a market and street food, live music from JB Disco and local performer Macy-O, a performance by GKY Dance, children’s rides and craft activities in Events Square.

St Laurence’s Church will also host an Advent Carol Service later in the day.

Festive activities will continue throughout December, with attractions including the Avenue of Christmas Trees at Ludlow Castle, tree trails organised by Ludlow Chamber of Commerce, Christmas markets, Carols in the Castle and a Living Nativity.

Organisers say the festival will offer a mix of free activities and events across the town, celebrating local traditions, food and entertainment.
