Ludlow opticians goes the extra mile for charity
A team of eight from Specsavers in Ludlow recently swapped eye examinations for endurance, pedalling 177km in support of Asthma + Lung UK.
Setting up a static bike in-store, the team raised £270 by taking it in turns to ride the bike. Led by community champion, Sammi Walters, the group, including Sophie Wragg, Leanne Stewardson, Julia Marriott, Chloe Orsborn, Bethan Jennings, Emma-Louise Boyd, and Elliot Webster, covered 177km in just eight hours.

Having taken on the challenge in support of clinical technician Kalyn Mansell, who was diagnosed with Asthma and Bronchiectasis eight years ago, the team were determined to raise as much as possible for the charity that provides support for people with respiratory conditions.
“Developing asthma as an adult was a huge shock, but Asthma + Lung UK has been an incredible support. It means so much to me that the team rallied behind the cause; they did an amazing job,” says Kalyn.
“A huge well done to the team for taking on this challenge,” says Sophie Wragg, store director at Specsavers Ludlow. “Racking up 177km wasn't easy but we did it! A special shoutout must go to Julia for her double stint, one of which she did in an inflatable dinosaur costume. We’re so grateful to our customers for supporting us on the day and helping us raise funds for such an important charity.”
