Families celebrate opening of new Pontesbury play area
Children helped cut the ribbon before trying out the new equipment at the Station Road play area
Families gathered in the sunshine to celebrate the official opening of Pontesbury's newly refurbished play area.
The event, held on Saturday, August 21, saw children help cut the ribbon before enjoying the new equipment, with free ice cream, sweets, water and goodie bags provided by Sutcliffe Play Ltd.
The play area, off Station Road, has undergone a major update following months of work, including public consultations with local residents.
Sutcliffe Play Ltd supplied and installed a range of new equipment, including a shop front, bridge and springer in the toddler area.
A Fireman's Tower has replaced the old ship, which had become rotten, while the improvements also include a new 4m-high rope climbing tower and an inclusive disc roundabout.
Pontesbury Parish Council chairman Councillor Duncan Fletcher thanked residents who took part in the consultation and those involved in delivering the project.
He said: "What perfect weather for the grand opening of our new play area, a great job completed by Sutcliffe Play and many thanks to the Pontesbury Parish Council team for working so hard to get things finished, and for organising such a great day."
He also thanked parents for getting involved in the consultation and attending the opening.
