Clun Carnival crowned a success with community celebration
Floats, tractors and 700 entries feature at Clun Carnival and Show
Clun Carnival and Show brought the community together for a day of celebrations, with a colourful procession, traditional competitions and the crowning of the carnival queen.
The annual event, held on Saturday, August 1, saw Ava Frost crowned Clun Carnival Queen by the High Sheriff of Shropshire, Katy Tanner.
She was joined by attendant Matilda Churchett and page boys Rowan Ford and Oscar Jones.

The festivities began at 12.30pm with the carnival procession, as a convoy of community-built floats, dance groups, historic vehicles and vintage tractors made their way through the streets of the town.

The procession ended in the historic square, where the carnival queen was crowned. The show was opened by Jack Limond, who was introduced by show president Pam Pitwood.
Following the procession, the castle grounds hosted an afternoon of attractions and demonstrations, with visitors able to explore the show marquee featuring more than 700 entries.

The displays celebrated the best of the local area, including fruit and vegetables, cookery, crafts, photography, floral art and children’s classes.
The event once again highlighted the creativity, talent and community spirit of Clun and the surrounding area.
