Broseley scarecrow entry celebrates Friendly Bus and its passengers
A scarecrow display featuring a minibus, its driver and passengers celebrated the role of community transport in bringing people together
A group supported by The Friendly Bus has won joint second place in Broseley’s Scarecrow Festival with a display celebrating the importance of community transport.

Members of the group Let’s Get Together recreated a Friendly Bus minibus, complete with a driver and passengers, for this year’s festival, organised by Broseley Group of Churches.
The scene also featured a swimmer and a therapy support dog, reflecting the different people and activities made possible through the service.

The Friendly Bus helps members of the community get to local groups and clubs, attend medical appointments and take part in social trips. It also gives people opportunities to meet others and build friendships.
The festival’s travel theme offered a chance to highlight how the service is about more than simply getting from one place to another.

For some members, a journey can provide a valuable opportunity for conversation and social contact, while access to places such as swimming pools can make a real difference. Swimming is the only form of exercise available to some members.
The group was delighted to receive joint second place for its entry, which celebrated the role that accessible transport can play in helping people stay active and connected.
