Still Life – a moving performance of poetry contemplating loss will be held in Presteigne

Still Life - The Eternal Reciprocity of Tears will be held in The Assembly Rooms in Presteigne on Sunday, November 8 at 3.30pm with doors open at 3pm.

It is a meditation in memoir and poetry contemplating the many aspects of loss which come when we love others.

Carol Caffrey's tender narrative is the central strand. She experienced multiple bereavements when her four siblings - two brothers, two sisters - died within a few years of each other.

Liz Lefroy has woven her poetry around this narrative, creating space for pause and reflection; and, for this November performance, Liz and Carol have chosen to include poems by Wilfred Owen.

The whole resonates with the sense of connectedness that's possible when, despite all our losses, we recognise experiences which overlap with, and comfort, those of others.

"Still life is a haunting performance: two women with their beautiful voices in a fascinating interweaving of their deeply moving poetry of loss and pain… Mesmerising, lyrical, musical, beautiful ..." Deb Alma, The Emergency Poet

"I first saw Still Life in a small library with no special lighting, or anything - just microphones - and I found it totally immersive. It held my attention throughout and I felt uplifted at the end. What a really moving, funny performance - sensitively designed and performed by two very different women…” Nadia Kingsley, Editor, Fair Acre Press

After the performance, there will be a discussion facilitated by Wings of Change

Tickets are £8 and they are available at The Workhouse Gallery, Presteigne or online at: https://wegottickets.com/f/22918
