The historic Minsterley Show will be held for the 149th year on Saturday at its new showground on Manor Farm in Cruckton after their tenure on the old site at Lea Cross came to an end last year. Buses to the new showground are being provided for visitors from Minsterley, Hanwood and Pontesbury, free of charge.

The new site is conveniently located just off the A5 on the Bowbrook roundabout and will be well signposted on the day.

This year's main attraction is the Knight of Albion, a jousting team made up of professional trick riders, stuntmen, and circus performers, and the 'village green' will also feature Russell the Conwy Jester, face painting, a craft tent and a Stiperstones Brass Band.

Minsterley Show's chairman Tom Sellers said they have already sold out with trade stands, thanks to 22 additions this year.

Tickets for the show cost £15 per adult, £5 for children aged five to 16, or £35 for a family ticket.

Show Secretary Susan Sandells says the show is aiming to keep it affordable for families, and is looking forward to what she hopes will be a successful first year at Manor Farm.

"It's a great day out, and we've kept our prices low compared to a lot of other agricultural shows," said Minsterley Show Secretary. "We're trying to keep it affordable so that the whole family can come.

"There's a lot of work that goes into it. For a one day show, we are planning for a year.

"I've looked at the weather and it looks like the sun is going to be shining so let's keep our fingers crossed because it's rained for the last couple of years. We're hoping we will have a nice sunny one for a change.

"We're the nearest to the town and Shrewsbury that we've ever been, so we're hoping that that will attract more people. Unfortunately we're getting a bit further away from Minsterley but that's just where the land is available for the show.

"We're hoping it might attract a different demographic that might not have usually gone.

"We've got got the Knights of Albion as our main attraction that's a bit of fun for everybody, and all the usual classes."

Further information on the show and how to purchase tickets can be found on Minsterley Show's website.
