Llandrindod Wells Mayor pays for screening of National Emergency Briefing film in town

A screening of the National Emergency Briefing film on the climate and nature crisis will be shown in Llandrindod Wells.

"The People's Emergency Briefing" (2026) is a 50-minute documentary featuring expert testimony on the UK's climate and nature crisis.

The documentary is presented by naturalist Chris Packham, featuring expert insights.

It features expert testimonies mixed with audience reactions for a human-level perspective and it also includes material from a November 2025 briefing to UK politicians.

The documentary covers food security, health, and national security with contributions from scientists and former military.

Llandrindod Wells Mayor Councillor Steve Deeks-D'Silva said the film will be shown at the Pavilion in Llandrindod Wells on Friday, August 14 at 7.30pm.

He told the June town council meeting that he had been contacted by Transition Llandrindod group about the growing climate and nature emergencies and he reminded members that the town council had declared both several years ago.

He said the council agreed at that time that there is an emergency.

Councillor Deeks-D'Silva said he would be funding the screening of the film out of the Mayor's Allowance.

“It is only short film but it is worth seeing,” he told members.
