Powys Women's institute group hears about charity which helps people with mental health issues
The October meeting of Old Radnor Women's Institute welcomed back Phil Morris, a speaker who gave another talk on the Cart Shed, a charity that helps people with mental health issues and other life challenges.
Phil has been a volunteer for 13 years alongside 69 other volunteers and two paid workers, and he spoke with enthusiasm about the Charity. Phil gives talks to anyone interested.
The Cart Shed caters for three age groups from the very young upwards.
Outside in the woods is where it all happens. With three sites, it has one for growing flowers and vegetables, a polytunnel, and a woodcraft area where people learn many skills. With cooking facilities, the vegetables grown are made into tasty meals for everyone.
Phil took along lovely, useful wooden items made by the people to sell to help the charity.
So many people have been helped, and hopefully a lot more will also be helped in the future.
The next WI meeting will be held on November 3 at 3 pm in Walton Village Hall.
The speaker will be Ray Woods, and he will talk about the Welsh Rain Forests. It will be an open meeting; anyone is welcome to come along.
