Two festivals and a talk on trees - a busy month ahead at a Kington venue

A Kington venue will take part in two festivals and hold a talk on trees of the Marches in May.

The month at the Oxford Arms will start on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 with the Marches Makers Festival.

The venue will be open from 11am until 5pm both days and will feature dance, craft stalls, and displays at The Oxford Arms. The bar and café will be open and attendance is free.

The Sunflower Social at Places of Welcome will take place on Wednesday, May 6 from 10am until 12.30pm.

It is a hidden disabilities support group and network, meeting in The Oxford’s barn on the first Wednesday of the month during our regular Places Of Welcome opening hours. Free admission.

Herefordshire Histories Festival will be at the Oxford on Sunday, May 9 from 1pm until 5pm.

It will include an exhibition and a talk from Richard Wheeler, author of The Old Words of Herefordshire (2024). The bar and café will be open and attendance is free.

Dementia Matters at Places of Welcome will be held on Wednesday, May 13 from 10am until 12.30pm

It is a support group and network for people affected by dementia, meeting in The Oxford’s barn on the second Wednesday of the month during our regular Places Of Welcome opening hours. Admission is free.

Welsh Marches Project Officer for Natural Resources Wales Josie Bridges will present a talk on The Veteran Trees of the Marches on Tuesday, May 19 from 6pm.

The bar will be open. Attendance is free, but donations are encouraged. Unreserved seating, please arrive early to ensure a place.

Quiz night at the Oxford Arms takes place on Friday, May 29 from 6pm until 10pm. Teams of a maximum of four people are required and the cost is £3 per person, there will be a cash prize for the winning team. The bar will be open throughout.

Creative Workshop will take place at The Oxford Arms on Sunday, May 31 from 2pm until 4pm.

This month’s activity is papermaking! Payment is by a donation of a suggested £5 and the live 100 Club draw will take place at 3pm. The bar will be open from 1pm until 5pm.
