Find out all about Builth Wells' Christmas light switch-on plans

Christmas may still be a little while away but Builth Wells is already looking ahead to welcoming Santa to the town.

Builth Wells Town Council discussed its plans for its annual Christmas event at a meeting recently.

The town, which is well known for its spectacular decoration display and great tractor run, will hold its light switch on, Santa's grotto and tractor run on Saturday, December 12 this year.

Deputy Mayor Councillor Gwyn Davies told the September meeting; “We are making some progress although things are a bit slower than usual because of the changes we are having to make.

“The plan is to hold the light switch-on, grotto and tractor run on December 12.

“We are looking to put the Christmas lights up on November 22 and then we have November 29 as a contingency plan. They will be up until January 10, when we plan to take everything down.

“We have ordered the brackets and we have picked some lights that we wanted.”

He said the Santa's grotto would be in the Strand Hall again this year as it had worked well in previous years and he said he could try and get a bouncy castle and there would be gifts for the children.

Members noted the report and were told updates will be given at the October meeting.

A volunteers meeting for Builth Wells Christmas Tractor Run will take place at the Strand Hall on Tuesday, October 27 at 6pm.

Anyone who fancies lending a hand to help make this year’s Christmas Tractor Run special should go along, share your ideas and get involved.

Everyone welcome — new faces and familiar ones.
