A Christmas Carol coming to Shrewsbury - with a jazz twist
A new imagining of A Christmas Carol will be performed in Shrewsbury this weekend – with a jazz twist.
Alan Barnes Jazz Octet presents A Jazz Christmas Carol on Saturday at 7.30pm in The Maidment Auditorium at Shrewsbury School.
As part of their 60th Season of Music and Arts, Shrewsbury School will be hosting multi-award winning British jazz musician Alan Barnes and his Octet to present their new performance.
Like the Dickens classic itself, this has something for everyone. This new suite of pieces, touring for the first time this year, takes the audience through the characters and scenes of A Christmas Carol.
Readings from the original Dickens tell the story, and after each scene eight virtuoso musicians bring the characters and scenes to life.
Tickets cost £12 each from www.ticketsource.co.uk/shrewsburyschool or call 01743 280812.
