The Ironbridge World War II Weekend was at the Gorge this Bank Holiday weekend for a two-day-long event that was centred around Dale End Park on Saturday and Sunday.
The event, which started as a small gathering in a pub beer garden, has grown into a showpiece attraction that sees thousands descend on Ironbridge in historic regalia.
This year saw a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Flyover with a Spitfire buzzing above Telford’s skies on Saturday, while a Douglas C47 “Dakota” transport plane took to the air at lunchtime on Sunday.
The aircraft flew over Dale End Park, followed the River Severn, and passed over the iconic iron bridge.
The two-day event also saw lively re-enactments featuring civilian life, military displays and camps, with Allied and Axis re-enactors portraying the realities of wartime Britain and Europe.
