Blackburn led 2-0 at The Hawthorns but were beaten.

James Morrison hailed West Brom’s calmness and belief as they came from two down to beat Blackburn 3-2 in the Sky Bet Championship match at The Hawthorns.

Having been left stunned after conceding twice in the first 12 minutes, Albion fought back to level the game in the second half before Felix Horn Myhre’s winner arrived a minute from time.

Morrison said he always believed his side would battle back into the game, despite the poor start.

He said: “It was a really bad start and we didn’t anticipate the start we had. I thought we’d be on the front foot after Tuesday.

“It showed we can’t just walk into games without intensity and taking too many touches.

“At 2-0 down we had time to get back into it and had some good passages, cutting through them and creating chances.

“After we scored it felt (like) the next goal would be the difference, and we had the belief and I was calm at half-time.

“It is the most chances we had all season in a game and I was calm. We asked players to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and individuals to do that – and they did.”

Morrison also praised midfielder Isaac Price, whose Panenka penalty levelled the scores.

He added: “I was looking away but it takes guts to do that, especially after missing your last penalty.

“Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn’t and, fair play to him, it takes guts.”

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray was frustrated by a penalty decision for West Brom’s second goal and believes his side deserved something from the game against one of the clubs he has previously managed.

He said: “It was a dream start but West Brom are a good team and their league position shows that.

“It is never easy to come here and I think we gave them something to chase at 2-0 down early on, and they chased it really well.

“I don’t want to be a manager to come and moan at officials, I think the penalty is a really, really poor one. It should have been a free-kick for us on the edge of the box and Sean (McLoughlin) was adamant he never touched the player.

“It doesn’t matter, we’ve lost the game 3-2 and that is disappointing, because we worked so hard to get three points at Bristol City and beat a very good Cardiff team.

“I think we deserved something from the game and it is frustrating because we had a good following here and we let them down a bit at the end.”

Blackburn stunned the home side as Andri Gudjohnsen lashed home an opener after six minutes, before he pounced on a loose ball from a corner to make it two.

Albion pulled one back in the 19th minute when Barney Stewart netted his first goal since arriving from Falkirk in the summer.

In the second half it was almost all Albion but they were getting frustrated before McLoughlin upended Jayson Molumby in the box, with Price showing real composure from the spot.

They kept pressing and the winner came a minute from the end as Aune Heggebo headed down for substitute Horn Myhre to net his first Championship goal.
