Phoenix Patterson completed the scoring.

Stevenage turned on the style as they eased to a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Plymouth.

Goals from Michael Mellon, making his first league start for Stevenage after seven substitute appearances, and Josh Magennis gave them the advantage at the break.

And the cherry on the cake was supplied seven minutes from the end through substitute Phoenix Patterson, leaving the large away support with nothing but a long trip home.

After a slow start to the game, Mellon put Boro ahead after 19 minutes, firing in low from the edge of the area after a link up with Magennis.

A run from Ben Broggio down the left brought the second eight minutes later. His cross-shot was only pushed out a few yards by former Boro loanee Murphy Cooper and Magennis drilled it in from seven yards.

Plymouth had two headers from Ronan Curtis in the first period but started the second half brighter, mainly thanks to half-time sub Xavier Amaechi.

A head injury to Louis Thompson allowed Stevenage to make a double change of their own, and after a super dribble through the middle by Dan Kemp, one of those replacements, Patterson, slipped in the third.
