Bradford lost their grip on top spot.

Bradford manager Michael Duff was left to bemoan missed chances as his side gave up top spot in League One after being held to a goalless draw at Burton.

The Bantams have only scored 10 goals in the league this season despite their lofty position and were made to rue missed chances once again on Tuesday night.

It was a third draw in four league games and second in three under new boss Duff.

“Overall emotion straight after the game is that it is two points dropped,” Duff said.

“We had enough chances to win the game. But in the sport, once the emotion comes out of it you have added a clean sheet and added a point on the road.

“You have got to be respectful. We have no given right to win.

“We have had 18 shots, 17 inside the box, but their keeper has only had to make two saves and there have been some gilt-edged chances in there so it’s frustration, but when you wake up in the morning you will feel the positives.”

Burton goalkeeper Corey Addai made an outstanding save from Antoni Sarcevic and substitute Adam Phillips was wasteful with a late chance as Bradford pushed for the goal that would have kept them top.

“We look a threat from set plays, and the attacking output is much higher than it was, but it’s no good looking good and creating chances,” Duff added.

“You have to score one and that is the bit that we can’t do for them. Their keeper has made an outstanding save. I don’t know how he has made the save and that is the big moment along with Adam Phillips’ chance.”

Burton head coach Gary Bowyer was equally frustrated after his side’s winless league run extended to four games.

He said: “I am not pleased with the fact that we didn’t win the game and we had opportunities, good opportunities to win it.

“To keep a clean sheet against a side that is top of the table, yes, I am delighted with that and delighted with the way that the players responded after a tough meeting with them on Monday.”

Charlie Webster’s dipping late effort forced an acrobatic save from Jon McCracken in the Bradford goal and substitute Matty Dennis was also denied towards the end.

“He has to score,” Bowyer said of Dennis’ effort.

“But it shows where we are, lacking experience at the top end of the pitch, but we will keep working with them to try and improve them.

“We look really good between the two penalty areas but inside the box is where it really matters.”
