Bradford beat Stevenage 2-0 to go top of Sky Bet League One with their first win under manager Michael Duff.

Antoni Sarcevic and Will Swan scored in the last 11 minutes to settle an open game at Valley Parade.

Stevenage threatened inside the first 30 seconds as Jon McCracken tipped over the bar from Dan Kemp’s 20-yard effort.

But they enjoyed a break when Bradford midfielder Adam Phillips’ goalbound shot struck team-mate Bobby Pointon and deflected wide.

Ibou Touray glanced a header wide from a Phillips cross but the contest settled down between two teams who have been difficult to break down.

Bradford brought on strikers Nick Powell, Stephen Humphrys and Will Swan after the break. Powell headed over the bar from Matt Pennington’s cross before McCracken saved from Michael Mellon.

But Bradford made the breakthrough in the 79th minute. Powell was tripped by goalkeeper Tommy Setford after getting to Swan’s low cross first and Sarcevic slammed home the penalty.

Swan made sure in the 87th minute when he pounced on the loose ball as Setford failed to claim Humphrys’ cutback.
