Marvin Ekpiteta was also on the scoresheet for the home side in a 2-1 win.

MK Dons avoided an FA Cup upset as they ground out a 2-1 win over League Two Swindon.

Marvin Ekpiteta gave the hosts an early lead, which Aaron Collins then doubled.

Aaron Drinan pulled a goal back for Swindon but the visitors could not find an equaliser as the League One hosts secured a place in the second round.

The Dons opened the scoring after six minutes. Collins fed Charlie Goode and his low ball across the face of goal was tapped in by Ekpiteta from close range.

Collins then scored his 17th goal of the season in the 13th minute. He received a fine curled pass from Eli Campbell before placing the ball beyond Robins goalkeeper Connor Ripley.

The Dons missed chances for a third as Ripley denied Collins and Sam Silvera, although home keeper Craig MacGillivray would thwart Drinan’s effort.

Swindon got a goal back in first-half stoppage time as Drinan thumped home after an initial strike by James Ball had been blocked.

Drinan was denied by MacGillivray with Swindon’s best opportunity for an equaliser, and although Ripley would twice deny Dons substitute Ben Wiles, the hosts held on to win.
