Wolves player ratings: Forwards struggle on frustrating night
We rate the players after Wolves held at home.
JOSE SA
Didn’t have a serious save to make in the 90 minutes. His handling was fine. Will have much busier matches than this. No chance with the goal.
Quiet: 6
JACKSON TCHATCHOUA
The right-back kept his place with Kieran Trippier still missing through injury and submitted a decent performance. Pretty solid at the back.
Decent: 6
NASSER DJIGA
Rarely troubled on a night when Portsmouth didn’t do too much attacking. Steady on the ball. Defence wasn’t Wolves’ problem.
Unflustered: 7
LADISLAV KREJCI
Assured on his return to the team as he continued his apparent job-share with Toti Gomes. Some decent long passes.
Poise: 7
HUGO BUENO
Another player back in the team. Got up and down the wing well and delivered a couple of decent crosses.
Busy: 6
ANDRE
Had Wolves’ only effort of note in the first half when he sent a bouncing shot wide. A dogged performance in the middle.
Worker: 6
MARSHALL MUNETSI
No shortage of effort but he struggled to make much of an impact in the opening 45 minutes and was hooked at half-time.
Bustling: 5
MATHEUS MANE
Much improved in the second half. Laid on a chance which saw Chirewa hit the bar. Then sent a dangerous cross through the six-yard box.
Unlucky: 6
FER LOPEZ
Perfect weight of pass for the goal. Struggled to get involved in the first half but like Wolves was much better after the break.
Class: 7
RAFIKI SAID
Again delivered enough to suggest there is a player in there. Sent in a cross which Lopez couldn’t direct on target.
Promise: 6
SEAN NEAVE
Worked hard but didn’t really make an impact. Seemed to struggle a bit with the physicality of the Portsmouth defence and was easily marshalled.
Peripheral: 5
SUBSTITUTES
Jordan James 7 (for Munetsi, HT), Tawanda Chirewa 6 (for Neave, HT), Tommy Doyle 5 (for Mane, 67), Jean-Ricner Bellegarde 6 (for Said, 75), Yerson Mosquera (for Andre, 89) Subs not used: Toti, Konan, Virginia (gk), Ruddy (gk).
