Wolves player ratings: Centre-backs shine in Carabao Cup cruise
We rate the players after Wolves beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.
JOSE SA
A pretty easy night for the keeper, who survived one scare when a rushed pass almost led to a Wednesday chance.
Untroubled 6
PEDRO LIMA
Appeared to have been given licence to roam in the opening stages and was eager to get forward. A tidy if unspectacular performance.
Solid 6
NASSER DJIGA
Played well and clearly helped give confidence to the youngster alongside him. Threw himself in the way of a Mason Burstow shot.
Dominant 7
SAHEED OLAGUNJU
You can’t really ask for a better debut. Scored and helped Wolves keep a clean sheet. Didn’t look out of place at all.
Dream 8
DAVID MOLLER WOLFE
Got into some very good attacking positions and may be disappointed he did not do more with some deliveries. Solid at the back.
Positions 6
BOUBACAR TRAORE
Arguably the standout player. Won the ball back when needed and used it well. Was always involved.
Encouraging 7
JORDAN JAMES
Sent a shot wide of goal from distance and showed a willingness to get stuck in. Looks a player still getting up to speed.
Promising 6
RODRIGO GOMES
His pace seemed to unnerve the home defence and he was particularly menacing in the opening 20 minutes. Sent a shot over.
Faded 6
TOMMY DOYLE
Delivered the kind of neat passing you would expect and sent in an excellent cross for the second goal. Tended to drop a little deep.
Involved 7
TAWANDA CHIWERA
Could hardly have made a better start, even if his shot should maybe have been dealt with better by Joe Lumley. Lacked a little in end product.
Effort 6
ADAM ARMSTRONG
Sent one first half chance straight at the keeper. Worked hard but lacked service. Switched to a wide role after Jimenez’s introduction.
Starved 6
SUBSTITUTES
Mateus Mane 6 (for Gomes, HT), Marshall Munetsi 6 (for James, 62), Raul Jimenez 6 (for Chiwera, 62), Hugo Bueno 6 (for Moller Wolfe, 72), Toti Gomes (for Olagunju, 85), Fer Lopez (for Doyle, 88) Subs not used: Andre, Tchatchoua, Gracey (gk).
