Talks have been ongoing between the two clubs for more than a week as Wolves aim to bolster Vitor Pereira's defensive options before the transfer window closes next Monday.

There has now been a breakthrough in the negotiations, with Wolves and Girona agreeing an initial loan fee for around £6million.

The deal also includes a buy option for a further £20million, which will be paid after the player has played a certain number of games. As a result, the move is expected to become permanent, with the player agreeing a contract until 2030.

Krejci will now complete his medical before securing his move to Wolves.

Wolves were keen to negotiate a lower fee and Girona continued to up their demands in recent days, which led to talks stalling.

But an agreement has finally been reached and the player is set to make his switch to the Premier League.

Pereira has been keen to add a left-footed centre-back all summer to give cover and competition to Toti Gomes and 26-year-old Krejci fits the bill.

However, the fee Wolves are paying is much higher than expected for this position, meaning Krejci is likely to play when he arrives at the club.

Captain Toti is unlikely to be replaced, meaning Emmanuel Agbadou could move to the right of the back three and Krejci could play in the middle.

The Czech international has also played in midfield earlier in his career.

He has made 20 appearances for his country and originally came came through at Zbrojovka Brno before joining Sparta Prague.

He then signed for Girona last summer for around £8.5million, signing a five-year deal.

Once the move goes through, Krejci will finish his Girona career with 38 appearances in all competitions, with his last game coming in a 5-0 defeat to Villarreal at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Wolves are still working on the signing of Christantus Uche from Getafe as they negotiate a deal in the region of £17million.
