Wolves boss has his say on survival attempt
Wolves boss Rob Edwards is refusing to indulge in the dream of a dramatic great escape this season.
After back-to-back Premier League wins over Villa and Liverpool, bottom-placed Wolves are now 12 points from safety but have played a game more than their rivals.
The recent resurgence and favourable set of eight remaining fixtures has some dreaming of the Premier League's greatest survival attempt, but Edwards has remained calm and admits it is a big ask with the 'vast' points gap.
"Honestly, all I can think about is just trying to win the next game," he said.
"We've clawed back a couple of points but the gap is vast so I don't look very often. If we don't win games it doesn't matter at all, does it?
"We've won a couple in a row so I get it. There's a little bit more noise around at the moment but my mindset is the same, it's just to try and win the next game."
Wolves are just three points away from Burnley and could drag themselves off the foot of the table.
Edwards is pleased with the team's improvement, but is more focused on long-term success.
"We believe we can turn things around and I think we're showing that now, but we said as well it's going to be a long-term thing," Edwards added.
"So, yes, we can turn things around from where we picked things up.
"I don't look at that (outside noise), I'm just happy that there was a really good energy around.
"I'm really happy that the fans were able to celebrate a couple of really, really good wins in quick succession and it does feel like there's a really good feel around the football club at the moment.
"But I know there's a lot of good work going on here, we're working really hard.
"The lads are giving everything. We will get things right, but it will take time."
