"We've got to be more ruthless" - Rob Edwards' verdict after Wolves lose to Bournemouth
Rob Edwards has urged Wolves to be more ruthless following their defeat to Bournemouth.
Goals from Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott decided the Molineux clash, but Wolves missed several opportunities to get back in the game and force a result.
Edwards was frustrated at that lack of clinical edge but felt his side deserved more.
"I thought we started really well, we were excellent in the first 20 minutes and got the goal that was offside," the head coach said.
"We looked really threatening, we'd taken the ball well, receiving in between the lines and looked threatening.
"Then I thought we played into their hands a bit and the goal was a prime example of that.
"They're a really good counter-pressing team. They want to jump down our throats and obviously in central areas as well. We had an opportunity to be able to come out to Channy and we lost the ball and then it was a really good finish.
"That was an example of what we did a bit too much in that second half of the first half. We just lost it too many times in more dangerous areas, gave them belief and obviously a foothold in the game.
"I thought the reaction at half-time was really good and it was a really good second-half performance. Again, like we did last week, created a lot of opportunities and we've got to be more ruthless.
"We've got to find a way to take one of those chances, ultimately.
"That's not me coming for any one individual at all, but we've got to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net because we created too much there not to have. Ultimately, goals change games and win you football matches and points.
"I'm pretty convinced if we'd have found an equaliser then we could have gone on and pushed to get the winner, but we didn't.
"They took their moment and we didn't take ours."
He added: "I saw a really committed team and a really good performance as well, especially in the second half, but obviously people feel it. We lose the game so there's a feel and we're in the results business and the result is the be-all and end-all.
"I don't feel that we deserved to lose, but we did and they were more ruthless than us, that was it."
Wolves are still keen to do some business in the final moments of the transfer window, ahead of Monday's 7pm deadline, with interest in Che Adams and Angel Gomes.
It may depend on outgoings, however, with firm interest still in Jorgen Strand Larsen.
When asked if he still wants to make late additions, Edwards said: "I still do, time will tell.
"I've not got more of an idea really because my focus has been on the game since we spoke yesterday.
"We'll see how the next couple of days pan out."
On if Larsen's situation had changed, he added: "As far as I'm aware, no, but over these next few hours, let's see.
"That's why he was involved and came on as well, he's been focused on the here and the now with us. We'll see how the next few days pan out."
