West Brom boss pleased with set piece improvement after Mason Holgate goal

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan wants Albion's set piece threat to continue - after Mason Holgate's goal against Norwich City.

Albion's lack of threat from set pieces in recent times under Corberan has been highlighted - with the Spaniard keen to see an improvement in both the delivery and the finishing.

But they had no such problems on Saturday against the Canaries - as Holgate's smart finish from a corner found the net.

It has been a strange conundrum in recent times for Corberan to fix - despite having bit players and dangerous players at both corners and free kicks.

Early in his reign, more specifically in his first few games in charge of Albion back in 2022 - Kyle Bartley was among those players who have been potent from set pieces, scoring some key goals as Corberan got off the mark.

They also have big physical, aerial presences in the squad such as Darnell Furlong who netted from a set piece at Hull City last season, Torbjorn Heggem and the likes of Uros Racic.

But it has been an area of the field where they have struggled to create from, but moving forward the Spanish head coach is hoping it becomes less of a problem.

And he has backed his wide players to provide the ammunition to allow set pieces to become a fruitful source of goals for his side.

"We used them very well," Corberan said reacting to the win over Norwich.

"I think sometimes you can shoot from the edge of the box when the opponent defends more deeper in the box than the edge of the box.

"When the opponent defends the edge of the box you have less options to use the edge of the box.

"With players like Grant, Johnston, Swifty, Mowey, they can finish from these, if the opponents give you the option to finish from space."
