Torrin Byrne claims third straight podium as breakthrough win edges closer
The Much Wenlock teenager’s podium run continued at Snetterton.
Teenage race ace Torrin Byrne admitted he is “dying” for a maiden win after claiming a third consecutive GB4 Championship podium.
The Much Wenlock racer finished second in race one at Snetterton at the weekend, making it back-to-back runner-up finishes after he had previously secured a third place.

After a brilliant opening lap, Byrne charged from sixth on the grid to finish second in the first of three races across the weekend as he edges closer to a breakthrough victory.
Byrne said: “I am really happy with that. The pace was strong, unfortunately I didn’t have the pace to catch Alex, but I think I did a good job and had a good start.”
Asked about his first win getting closer, the 17-year-old added: “Honestly, I am dying for it, but it is really nice to have this momentum building through the second half of the season.

“I am really proud of the team, they have done an amazing job. It is only our second year running this car, and to be flying like this is something to be really proud of.
“We have got a really strong race pace, so once we get this one lap pace sorted, I think we will be right up there.”
Byrne was handed his second-place trophy by former Formula One driver David Brabham.
The Wrekin College student went on to finish sixth in race two after a battle with Pace Performance team-mate John O’Donnell and Hillspeed’s Enzo Hallman.

The Shropshire-based team enjoyed success across the weekend, but Byrne endured a frustrating end to his weekend with a DNF in race three.
The 17-year-old suffered damage after contact on the opening lap, with a deflated tyre sending him spinning across the pack and forcing him out of the race.
Byrne sits seventh in the championship with two rounds remaining at Donington Park and Brands Hatch next month.
