Jamal Blackman

A couple of excellent saves over the course of the 90 minutes, and several vital claims to take the pressure off his side.

Decent: 7

David Wheeler

Returned to Adams Park and was thrust into the starting XI at right wing-back. He wasn’t able to get forward too much, but he gave it his all.

OK: 6

Morgan Feeney

Brilliant first-half block to deny Kone, and there was another one after the break of equal importance. He was very good on his return to the team.

Good: 7

Josh Feeney

Played on the left side of the back three, and showed a couple of decent moments on the ball. He won countless headers from balls that went into the box.

Top drawer: 7

Aaron Pierre

It was a tough afternoon for everyone at St Andrew’s with Salop conceding four goals, but they defended bravely here - as did Pierre.

Brave: 7

Mal Benning

Difficult evening for Benning at left wing-back. He was lucky to still be on the pitch after receiving a booking in the first period and committing more fouls thereafter.

Lucky: 5

Funso Ojo

The midfielder was not in the squad at Blues, but he was excellent in the first half, especially with the work he did in possession.

Steady: 6

Alex Gilliead

You know when Gilliead is playing well as he goes on those marauding forward runs - there was a couple of those in the first period. As Town retreated after the break, so did he.

Direct: 6

John Marquis

He started the evening in a deeper number 10 role until the injury to Oliver, then moved up front. Held the ball up well and won important free-kicks.

Important: 6

Vadaine Oliver

A frustrating evening for Oliver, who picked up an ankle injury in the opening 20 minutes and was forced off.

Injured: n/a

George Lloyd

He was the Town man who went close in the first half with a couple of sights at goal, but he was left isolated after the interval.

Isolated: 6

Substitutes

Jordan Shipley 6 (Oliver 18), Taylor Perry (Gilliead 73), Dom Gape (Ojo 73), Luca Hoole (Wheeler 86).

Not used: Young, Nurse, Stewart.
