Elyh Harrison

The goalkeeper made his Shrewsbury debut and produced an excellent penalty save in the first half. His all-round performance was excellent too.

Promising: 9

Luca Hoole

Tough evening for many in the Town back five, and from an offensive point of view, Hoole was not able to get high up the pitch and offer that attacking outlet on the right.

Tough: 5

Tom Anderson

Moved out to play on the right side of the back three on this occasion, and also found it difficult. Playing out from the back was hard for Town all night.

Tricky: 5

Toto Nsiala

The defender has not played a great deal of competitive football this year, and you could see that in his performance at Blundell Park - he looked nervy.

Nervy: 5

George Nurse

He moved from wing-back to centre-back for the clash in Lincolnshire. Had one or two promising moments in possession, but gave away a penalty late on, which looked harsh.

Mixed: 5

Mal Benning

He has missed out in the first two games of the season, and he got his chance to impress, but despite plenty of effort, nothing came off for the wing-back.

Challenged: 5

Sam Clucas

The veteran has not had the start to his Salop career that he would have hoped. With his technical ability, you would expect him to dominate the game more.

Quiet: 5

Tom Sang

He was Town’s best outfield player by some distance. Not just because he scored, but his all-round play was good as well.

Decent: 7

Taylor Perry

The midfielder made a difference at the weekend, and he deserved his start, but it did not go to plan for Perry, who had a difficult night.

Opportunity missed: 5

George Lloyd

Regardless of his play with the ball, when Lloyd plays, you get 100 per cent commitment and a threat in behind, but Town are not giving him much to feed off.

Hardworking: 6

Callum Stewart

The youngster tried his best, but after getting his first start, he was unable to make the impact he would have wanted.

Struggled: 5

Substitutes

John Marquis 5 (Stewart 68), Anthony Scully 5 (Clucas 68), Alex Gilliead (Hoole 84), McDermott (Perry 84)

Not used: Savin, Stubbs, Gray, England, Biggins.
