The 23-year-old attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe, but Wolves eventually landed the Cameroonian international on a five-year deal with an option year included.

His arrival comes in the wake of the departure of former club captain Nelson Semedo, who joined Turkish side Fenerbahce this summer after five seasons at Molineux.

Tchatchoua, who was born in Cameroon but raised in Belgium, started his footballing journey in the youth set-up at Standard Liege, before transferring to Charleroi in 2016.

Starting his career as a winger, Tchatchoua made his first team debut in 2021 as a late substitute during a 3-0 win at KV Oostende at the age of 19.

He would go on to establish himself as a regular fixture in the Charleroi team, scoring once and setting up three more in his first season, including a pair of assists in a 3-2 win over Belgian giants KAA Gent in September 2021.

His form in the Belgian Pro League soon caught the eye across the continent and Tchatchoua moved to Italy, initially on loan with Hellas Verona in 2023.

Tchatchoua had been making his first steps into international football at the time, playing under Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o for the under-23s.

His senior international bow followed at the end of his first season in Italy, as he played the full 90 minutes in a 4-1 victory in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Hellas Verona converted his loan into a permanent deal in the summer of 2024 and Tchatchoua went from strength to strength in Serie A during his second campaign.

In total, Tchatchoua made 43 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and bagging three assists to help them retain their top-flight status.

Tchatchoua, who also clocked the fastest speed in Serie A last term at 36.km per hour, netted in a 2-0 win at Genoa in September last year and an equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Venezia in January.

He translated his blossoming form on to the international stage by inspiring Cameroon to qualification for December's Africa Cup of Nations alongside Premier League stars such as Andre Onana, Carlos Baleba and Bryan Mbeumo.

After his departure was confirmed, Hellas Verona boss Paolo Zanetti said: "I was sorry to lose a player like Tchatchoua, but when an important offer for the club arrived - unlike that from Nottingham Forest which was sent back, this is important.

"The boy wanted to go to the Premier League so I let him go. Technically his departures weighs, but players make their careers."
